Criteria for Secure Residential Treatment Program
The criteria below applies to males and females with various behaviorial disorders, traumas, and offenses who are in need of long-term treatment.
- Adjudicated delinquent
- 12-20 years of age
- Court ordered to secure care
- IQ of 60 (considerations made on case-by-case basis)
- Expected length of stay is 6-9 months

Criteria for Sex Offender/Fire Setter Program
Secure Residential Treatment Program specifically for sex offenders and/or fire setters who are in need of long-term treatment. The criteria below applies to males.
- Adjudicated delinquent
- 12-20 years of age
- Court ordered to secure care
- IQ of 60 (considerations made on case-by-case basis)
- Expected length of stay is 9-12 months (offer varied lengths of stay)

Criteria for Open Residential Treatment Program
The criteria below applies to males transitioning from MAYS’ secure programs. However, on occasion, a youth may be admitted directly from the court when the secure setting is not conducive to the youth's treatment.
- Adjudicated delinquent
- Court ordered
- 14-20 years of age
- IQ of 65 or higher
- Expected length of stay is 3 months (as a step-down) and 6-9 months for direct admission

Criteria for Secure Detention Program
The criteria below applies to males and females in need of short-term placement.
- Allegedly or adjudicated delinquent
- 12-20 years of age
- Child met criteria established under 55 PA Code, Section 3800
- Child has been assessed as meeting the admissions criteria outlined in the Standards Governing the Use of Secure Detention under the Juvenile Act, 42 PA. C.S. 86301, et seq.
- Child currently awaiting placement into a treatment/facility program and has been court committed to detention to await his/her admission date
- Child has completed a treatment program and has been court committed to detention to await additional disposition by the court
- Child is pre-adjudicated and awaiting his/her court appearance to determine further disposition and has been placed into detention by the court pending such disposition
